Houston, TX – October 13, 2026 – Total Hydrogen Solutions (THS), a division of Pneumatic and Hydraulic Company, LLC (PHC), and a leading designer and integrator of comprehensive hydrogen energy systems, has earned a place among the top three honorees in POWER magazine’s 2026 Hydrogen POWER Awards. The company’s Texas Production Facility in Katy, Texas, was recognized for its approach to on-site hydrogen production, compression, storage, and dispensing.
For more than four decades, POWER magazine has recognized the people, projects, and technologies making an impact across the global power generation industry. In a feature published September 29th, 2026, POWER takes a closer look at the technology, engineering, and vision behind the project, including how integrated hydrogen production and storage can help support a more flexible approach to energy management.
Built in roughly 12 months on a 5,500-square-foot footprint, the facility is designed to produce up to 500 kilograms of hydrogen per day. That is enough to refuel up to eight Class 8 heavy-duty trucks or approximately 100 passenger fuel cell vehicles. The site brings electrolytic hydrogen production, compression, purification, storage, dispensing, water treatment, cooling, and controls together into one integrated plant.
The facility runs on an initial 1 MW alkaline electrolyzer from HyperCellX, selected for its domestic manufacturing and efficiency. Hydrogen compression is handled by H-Drive equipment manufactured in-house by Total Hydrogen Solutions, building on PHC’s more than 65 years of experience in high-pressure systems and fluid power.
The plant is also designed to participate in ERCOT’s 4CP and demand response programs. By building hydrogen inventory ahead of expected peak periods and serving customers from storage, the facility can scale back production when grid conditions make it economically favorable.
“The idea is to use hydrogen storage to give us flexibility in when we produce. Production and customer fueling do not necessarily have to happen at the same time,” Bobby Hunt, General Manager, Total Hydrogen Solutions, told POWER.
An offtake agreement with Hyroad supports distribution of the hydrogen to regional users. Looking ahead, Total Hydrogen Solutions is targeting 2 MW of electrolyzer capacity by the end of 2026, with a modular design that allows the site to grow to 5 MW as customer demand develops.
