Since 1979, LA-MAN Corporation has provided filtration and lubrication products to the pneumatics industry. The primary focus of LA-MAN has always been to deliver clean, dry compressed air for our customers. This task has been accomplished for a quarter of a century with the LA-MAN patented Extractor/Dryer.
LA-MAN takes a different approach to cleaning up contaminated compressed air lines. Our Extractor/Dryer provides the best service when it is located at the “POINT OF USE” in an application. This allows the air from the compressor to cool, thus condensing to liquid, and enabling the Extractor/Dryer to do its job. The shortest distance from our filter to the point of use ensures cleaner air, therefore protecting valuable machinery and equipment.
This unique compressed air filter, along with other LA-MAN accessories, is used by several well-known names who rely on clean and dry air.
The Golden Gate Bridge, Thermal Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, Tyson Foods and the United States military are all users of LA-MAN products. The Extractor/Dryer assists our customers in reducing maintenance, increasing production efficiency, and improving your compressed air quality.
REFRIGERATED EXTRACTOR/DRYER
The Refrigerated Extractor/Dryer uses refrigeration to condense water and oil vapors into the form of liquid aerosols before the contaminated air flows through the Extractor/Dryer. The condensed liquid contaminates are then completely removed by our patented Extractor/Dryer and continuously drained away, assuring clean, dry compressed air.
The refrigerated extractor/dryer removes over 99% of the condensed liquids continuously, thus ensuring a constant dew point. The compressed air contacts only non-corrosive materials, which makes the air suitable for high purity applications. It’s housed in a non-corrosive plastic cabinet that is mounted on a stainless base, which occupies a minimum of floor space.
Product Specifications:
- Lighted power On/Off switch
- Refrigeration circuit failure warning indicator
- Environmentally friendly refrigerant (no CFC’s)
- Inlet pressure range is 20 psig to 175 psig (1.5 to 12 bar)
- Normal pressure loss (through clean unit) is 5 psig
- Electric requirement is 115vac/60cy/1ph
Don’t get caught up in comparing heat exchanger designs and “cold-point” temperatures, which are frequently claimed to be the real dew point performance of a dryer. A conventional refrigerated air dryer uses a mechanical cyclone separator to remove the condensed liquid and aerosol particles. While such a device may often be the least costly choice, it contains no filtration capability and has poor separation efficiency when separated at any other flow other than its designated flow.
The LA-MAN Refrigerated Extractor/Dryer with its patented multi-stage extraction process is not flow sensitive, thus continuously eliminates over 99% of the condensed liquid and aerosols under all flow conditions. The reheated exiting air is therefore truly dried to a consistent dew point, no matter how much the compressed air consumption rate might vary. The outlet dew point of our unit will always be less than 40o F at line pressure.
A float drain or electronic drain can be added in place of the standard weep drain, and is currently available in 15, 25, 30, 50 and 75 SCFM models.
SUPERSTAR MEMBRANE DRYER
The LA-MAN-DRY AMD series SuperStar Membrane Dryer is the optimum choice for providing compressed air applications with Ultra-Clean & Dry air. The LA-MAN Extractor/Dryer combined with the LA-MAN SuperStar .01 Micron Filter provides an industry leading four-stage pre-filtration system for the membrane dryer. Our automatic moisture discharger and differential pressure gauges are standard features.
Enough cannot be said about the importance of proper pre-filtration. Therefore, LA-MAN has taken the necessary steps to incorporate this four-stage system to provide the proper protection for our membrane dryer.
The SuperStar .01 Micron Filter removes any remaining particles larger than .01 micron and the carbon absorption element protects the membrane fibers from harmful oil vapors. It can be mounted in any position, and it is a complete system. The four-stage pre-filtration package, the membrane dryer, a flexible input hose, mounting brackets and complete installation instructions.
This unit continuously removes water vapor, which is then vented harmlessly into the surrounding atmosphere.
Standard Features of the SuperStar Membrane Dryer are:
- No electrical requirements
- No maintenance of membrane
- Full 35 SCFM usable
- Float drain and DP plugs
- Built-in vibration protection
- Carbon element to absorb oil vapors
- Flexible input hose allowing installation in any position
- Complete with mounting brackets
How the Membrane Works
Saturated air enters the hollow fiber tubes. Water molecules are absorbed along the inside of the tubes and diffuse through the polymen skin to the outside of the tubes.
Some dry air is drawn from the outlet and sweeps the water molecules from the outer tube surfaces, carrying the moisture off into the surrounding atmosphere.
Only ready-to-use clean, dry air exits the hollow fiber tubes. The process is continuous.
The Membrane Dryer lowers the dew point by diffusing the water vapor into the surrounding atmosphere to deliver moisture-free, ultra-clean and dry compressed air. It does not deplete any obygen from the compressed air stream.
The membrane itself has no moving parts, does not require any electricity, and it can be installed in any position with the flexible input hose provided.
Critical to the longevity of a membrane dryer is proper pre-filtration and isolation of vibrations presen in piped compressed air systems. Our membrane dryer is uniquely designed with a flexible intake hose assembly to eliminate the hazards of damage from these vibrations. This feature, combined with our proven pre-filtration by the LA-MAN Extractor/Dryer and the LA-MAN SuperStar .01 Micron Filter, will allow our SuperStar Membrane Dryer to last indefinitely.
